This motorbike tour of the Rocky Mountains of Canada and northwest Montana will take your breath away. Though less lofty than the great ranges of Colorado, their stark crags soar above the plains, silhouetted against the Big Sky. Of course, verybody knows that great mountains make for great motorcycling.

This part of North America is so big, and so beautiful, that we're giving our riders some extra time to experience it in the most exciting way possible - on a motorcycle. This tour is FOURTEEN riding days! We'll leave Seattle, Washington and ride north into British Columbia and then east through the Canadian Rockies

We’ll ride wonderful winding roads through the Monashee and the Kootenay ranges where some of the most beautiful unspoiled forests, lakes and glaciers anywhere will awe and inspire you. Our route on this amazing motorcycle holiday, will track the old Canadian Pacific Railroad, which opened up this wilderness area little more than a century ago. Even now the communities are few and far between; railroad towns and resorts set against the stark majesty of the snowcapped Selkirk Range. We’ll take in BC’s wine region, the Okanagan valley. Vineyards and resort towns line Okanagan Lake with lively cafes, fun casual dining and robust nightlife. Surrounded by towering trees and steep hillsides, Kootenay Lake has North America’s longest free ferry and seductive switchback lakeside roads.

Legendary Canadian hospitality and friendlinessare the norm in the beautiful resorts of Banff and Lake Louise. A day ride on the Ice Fields Parkway is part of our stay in Banff.

If this experience of fantastic motobike touring is not enough, then prepare yourself to experience the Calgary Stampede.

Held every July since 1912, the Stampede is an annual rodeo, exhibition and festival. The ten-day event, which bills itself as The Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth, attracts over one million visitors per year and features the world's largest rodeo. GAMCT visited the Stampede in 2011 and we are looking forward to returning for two days to celebrate the Centennial Stampede in 2012.

South of Calgary is Alberta’s Kananaskis country, chosen for the 2002 G8 summit for its remoteness and scenery. The Canadian portion of our journey continues to Waterton Glacier International Peace Park. After crossing back into the US, we find ourselves on Going-To-The-Sun Highway in Glacier National Park.

Our route back to Seattle takes us west through the Idaho panhandle, taking in Coeur D'Alene’s beautiful blue lake. After a spectacular crossing of the Columbia River we climb again through the Wenatchee National Forest and Stevens Pass before our descent back to sea level in Seattle.

Besides the great roads and spectacular scenery on all our USA & Canada Motorcycle Tours, one of the most critical components is our lodging selections. All lodging is included, from the evening before our departure through the night after we return to our final stop. This is Enhanced Motorcycle Travel, the Great American way… we stay at only the finest available inns, bed and breakfasts, and resorts.

Words like "first-class" , "luxury" and such are subjective, and can mean a lot of things to a lot of people, so we stay away from 'em. The "Star" or "Diamond" systems don't really work for us either, since we get to so many out-of-the-way places, and those guidebook writers (and the flocks of tourists that follow them) just haven't made it there yet. We just go for the best available, with a few conditions...

We stay at places where our group is not considered "small", so we can be the primary focus of the proprietor and staff. That generally means you'll stay at a small local inn, Bed & Breakfast, ranch, lodge, or even private cabins. Sometimes we're the only ones there. The place needs to have character, and some of the most interesting characters you'll meet on a tour (in addition to your group of course!) may be our hosts for one or more evenings.

Nonetheless, comfort is never sacrificed, and you'll find amenities such as antique furnishings, hot tubs, fireplaces, as well as nearby activities and attractions such as golf, horseback riding, fishing, hiking, and yes, even shopping.

Suffice it to say your lodging experience will be "Comfortably Unique".

Each day that we are traveling starts with breakfast as a group. It's often at our place of lodging and varies from a generous continental to a cooked-to-order feast. Sometimes we ride for an hour or so if there's a "destination" breakfast in the area. Before leaving each morning we'll discuss the days ride, attractions, alternative routes. In any case, don't worry about starting out on an empty stomach.

Lunch is on your own. We'll usually stop where there are several choices and you can have what you like. We like places that are just the right combination of atmosphere, good food, and the prompt service needed to help us keep moving.

We've found that people like choices when it comes to dinner. Some days we'll have adinner as a group, but we also give you opportunities to have dinner where your want and when you want.

We typically enjoy local favorites and specialties, always prepared fresh and always plentiful. Sometimes we order from menus - choose anything at all - but on occasion we have a "personal chef" who is eager to exercise his or her culinary creativity. The best meals, like the best rides, are often "planned spontaneity"!

This tour is accompanied by a support vehicle. The SV carries luggage for the group and has plenty of room for clothing and riding gear and even space for some larger extras like fishing poles and golf clubs. We're saying "two pieces per person" just so no one gets carried away.

When you arrive for your tour, you'll receive your Daily Itinerary Packet. In it you'll find detailed information about your tour, including maps and directions for each day's travels... the route the group leader will be following as well as alternates. There will be a list of attractions, interesting facts about places and people along the way..

You'll also have emergency contact information and telephone numbers for our each night's lodging, should you be delayed.
