The start point for this 14 day motorbike tour of the UK is at The Pit Stop Diner, Stockton on Tees, which was recently voted most popular location in the recent Keep Britain Biking Competition run by MCN/Devitt Insurance. During this motorcycle tour we will cover some of the top 10 destinations of that competition as we ride through the New Forest, Cornwall, Wales, The Lake District and Scotland. Tour overview: Meet at The Pit Stop Diner, Stockton on Tees on Saturday morning and get to know each other over a coffee or three and breakfast for those that have not yet eaten. Here will go through some brief safety details and group riding policies for those that have not ridden in groups previously. Before we set off there will be a photo shoot for MCN and other publications.
Heading South East from Stockton, we head towards the coast and Scarborough before we head South towards the Cotswolds.
Next we head for The New Forest and a visit to the motorcycle museum at Beaulieu being mindful of all the New Forest ponies and long haired cattle that are prone to wandering the roads. With great, quiet roads the route South is just made for bikes. From here we head West through Dorset and then South to Devon and then Cornwall. The accommodation / stop offs are well situated, friendly and comfortable. Day 5 is a day off in the lovely coastal town of Minehead From here we head North along the coast, then it's a short motorway trip to the M4 and into Wales. Riding through Wales along some of the countries best biking roads, across the Brecon Beacons to the West Coast and the town of Aberaeron before following the coastal road to Aberystwyth and then inland again and North into Snowdonia national Park. Then we continue North again as we make our way towards the Lake District Day 10 is a Day off in the Windermere area After the Lakes we head to Carlisle and meet up with another of our tours for the Scotland phase of our journey. For the next 4 days 3 nights we will ride up the West coast and up as far as Inverness before heading south east to Pitlochry and then back to Jedburgh.
The last day sees us heading back to the Pit Stop Cafe in Stockton via Hawick where we will stop off and visit the museums dedicated to the memories of the late Jimmie Guthrie and Steve Hislop, two famous motorcyclists.
